Netflix has announced June 4 as the premiere date for its upcoming crime-comedy film ‘Maa Behen’, starring Madhuri Dixit, Tripti Dimri, and Dharna Durgaa in lead roles. The streaming platform revealed the release date on Madhuri Dixit’s birthday, building excitement around the quirky family drama packed with chaos, humour, and suspense.
According to a Netflix press release, ‘Maa Behen’ revolves around a dysfunctional mother-daughter trio — Rekha, Jaya, and Sushma — whose lives spiral into madness after they unexpectedly find a dead body in their kitchen. What follows is a rollercoaster of lies, panic, and comic confusion as the family tries to cover up the situation while keeping suspicious neighbours away from the truth.
The film blends small-town eccentricity with emotional family dynamics and crime-comedy elements. Madhuri Dixit plays Rekha, the mother trying to hold things together amid growing chaos, while Tripti Dimri and Dharna Durgaa portray her daughters, each bringing contrasting personalities into the story. Actor Ravi Kishan also features in a prominent role alongside a supporting cast that includes Geetanjali Kulkarni, Arunoday Singh, and Shardul Bhardwaj.
The film has been directed by Suresh Triveni and produced by Abundantia Entertainment in association with Opening Image Films. The project marks another collaboration between Suresh Triveni and producer Vikram Malhotra after their previous successful ventures.
Speaking about the film, Vikram Malhotra, Founder and CEO of Abundantia Entertainment, said the story combines an audacious premise with emotional depth rooted in family relationships and survival within a judgmental society. He added that the makers wanted to create a world that feels entertaining yet instantly relatable for audiences.
Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Director of Original Films at Netflix India, described Maa Behen as a comedy full of surprises that gradually unfolds into something deeper and more layered. She also highlighted the unusual casting and the emotionally grounded storytelling style brought in by director Suresh Triveni.
With its mix of dark humour, family drama, and unpredictable twists, the film is expected to add another distinctive title to Netflix India’s growing slate of original entertainers. ‘Maa Behen’ will stream globally on Netflix from June 4.
