NDTV has appointed Ramarko Sengupta as its AI Editor as the network strengthens its focus on integrating artificial intelligence into newsroom operations and storytelling formats. The move comes at a time when media organisations across the world are increasingly exploring how AI can transform news discovery, production and audience engagement.
According to an NDTV press release, Ramarko Sengupta brings more than two decades of experience across digital, television, print and wire journalism. Over the years, he has worked extensively at the intersection of business, technology, startups and policy, areas that are becoming increasingly important in the evolving media ecosystem.
Before joining NDTV, Sengupta served as Associate Editor at The Economic Times’ B2B verticals, where he led editorial initiatives around artificial intelligence, Global Capability Centres and startups. His work focused on shaping conversations around India’s changing economic and technology landscape.
Earlier, at YourStory, he handled editorial and brand solutions content while also anchoring interviews and video conversations with entrepreneurs, business leaders and innovators. His previous experience also includes leading business and automobile verticals at The Times of India Online, being part of the founding editorial team at FactorDaily, and serving as Senior Assistant Editor at NDTV Convergence.
During his journalism career, Sengupta has covered several major developments including Coal India’s record IPO, Union Budgets, elections and key policy announcements. He has also worked across multiple storytelling formats including text, video, multimedia and live presentations while mentoring editorial teams and building content ecosystems designed for changing audience behaviour.
At NDTV, he will now focus on integrating AI into editorial workflows and newsroom systems, while helping reshape how stories are identified, verified, produced and distributed in an increasingly AI-driven media environment.
Commenting on the appointment, Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, said the future advantage in journalism will depend not just on access to information but on how intelligently it is processed and presented. He noted that AI is beginning to influence every layer of journalism, from discovery to distribution, and said Sengupta’s understanding of editorial systems and emerging technologies will help build a faster and sharper newsroom while maintaining NDTV’s credibility.
Speaking on his new role, Ramarko Sengupta said the larger opportunity with AI in journalism goes beyond efficiency and lies in improving depth, relevance and clarity in storytelling. He added that in a world flooded with content, credible and thoughtful journalism will continue to stand out, and expressed confidence about building systems where AI supports stronger editorial judgment and storytelling.
The appointment reflects NDTV’s broader push towards data-driven journalism, intelligent content systems and new storytelling formats as the network positions itself for the next phase of digital news and media transformation.
