Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker is set to helm a new four-part docu-drama series titled ‘Temple Raiders’, which will delve into the theft and global trafficking of India’s sacred temple artefacts. The project aims to bring to light a lesser-explored but significant issue surrounding cultural heritage and its illegal movement across borders.
According to a PTI report, the series is being produced by Tudip Entertainment and Riverland Entertainment, in association with Ashutosh Gowariker Productions. The show is expected to blend investigative storytelling with cinematic narrative, offering viewers both factual depth and dramatic engagement.
The series has been created and written by Raghav Khanna, who is also serving as the showrunner. Khanna is known for his work on critically acclaimed titles such as ‘The Elephant Whisperers’, ‘The Mumbai Mafia’, and ‘The Hunt for Veerappan’, bringing with him a strong background in documentary-style storytelling.
‘Temple Raiders’ will explore how priceless artefacts are stolen from temples and illegally traded in international markets, tracing the journey of these objects and the networks involved. With Gowariker at the helm, the series is expected to combine historical context with gripping narratives, offering a compelling look at a subject that intersects culture, crime, and global trade.
