Prime Video has announced a new initiative titled ‘Obsession Is In Session’, marking a significant push to position itself as a leading destination for young adult (YA) audiences. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a first-look teaser trailer showcasing its upcoming 2026 YA originals, signalling a broader, long-term investment in youth-driven storytelling and fandom culture.
According to a press release, the initiative is designed as a season-long celebration of YA content, bringing together back-to-back premieres, immersive fan experiences, and cultural engagements aimed at strengthening connections between stories and their audiences. The teaser offers early glimpses of several anticipated titles, including ‘Off Campus’, ‘Every Year After’, ‘Elle’, ‘Sterling Point’, ‘The Last Sunrise’, ‘The Love Hypothesis’, ‘The Devil’s Mouth’, ‘Maxton Hall Season 3’, ‘Drawn Together (Marfil)’, ‘Your Fault: London, Perfectos Mentirosos’, and ‘Clashing Through the Snow’, reflecting the platform’s expanding YA slate.
At its core, ‘Obsession Is In Session’ seeks to build an ecosystem that goes beyond streaming, bringing together creators, talent, and cultural voices shaping contemporary entertainment. The focus is not just on content consumption, but on creating deeper engagement with communities that actively participate in fandom culture.
A key highlight of the initiative is ‘Obsessed Fest’, an inaugural fan event scheduled for June 27 at nya Studios in Los Angeles. Positioned as a large-scale, immersive experience, the event aims to translate digital fandom into a real-world celebration, offering fans opportunities to interact directly with creators and talent. The event will feature popular Prime Original YA titles such as ‘Every Year After’, ‘The Love Hypothesis’, ‘Elle’, ‘Off Campus’, ‘Overcompensating’, ‘Your Fault: London’, and ‘Drawn Together’, along with exclusive previews and live sessions.
The event’s programming spans multiple formats, including a central stage with talent-led sessions, a book-focused interactive space, content creation studios that allow fans to recreate scenes, and curated screening and merchandise zones. The structure reflects a broader strategy to extend storytelling into experiential formats, turning passive viewing into active participation.
Alongside this, Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios are also expanding their ‘Prime Book Club’ initiative, which focuses on book-to-screen adaptations and aims to engage global reading communities. With dedicated social platforms and integration with digital communities like BookTok, the program is expected to amplify author voices and deepen audience engagement with literary content.
Registrations for ‘Obsessed Fest’ are currently open, with tickets already on sale, as the platform gears up to build a sustained cultural footprint in the young adult entertainment space.
