The political thriller ‘Prathichaya’, starring Nivin Pauly, is set to premiere on JioHotstar from April 24, bringing a layered narrative of power, politics, and personal redemption to digital audiences.
Written and directed by B. Unnikrishnan, the film is backed by Sree Gokulam Movies and RD Illuminations. The story centres on serious allegations levelled against Kerala Chief Minister K.N. Varghese and the determined efforts of his son to restore the family’s reputation.
Veteran actor Balachandra Menon essays the role of K.N. Varghese, while Nivin Pauly plays John Varghese, a son caught in a complex web of political scrutiny and personal responsibility. The narrative unfolds against a backdrop of public perception, political pressure, and the emotional toll of defending one’s legacy.
The film brings together a wide ensemble cast, including Sharafudheen, Maniyanpilla Raju, Harisree Ashokan, Sai Kumar, Ann Augustine and Vijitha Vijayakumar, among others, adding depth to the storyline with multiple perspectives and character arcs.
On the technical front, cinematography is handled by Chandru Selvaraj, while the music is composed by Justin Varghese. Editing duties are managed by Manoj, contributing to the film’s pacing and narrative structure.
With its focus on political intrigue and emotional conflict, ‘Prathichaya’ is expected to engage viewers looking for a story that blends drama with contemporary socio-political themes when it begins streaming later this month.
