The makers of ‘Raja Shivaji’ have unveiled their first song, the stirring anthem ‘Chhatrapati’, offering a grand musical glimpse into the much-anticipated historical epic based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Composed by the celebrated duo Ajay–Atul and sung by Ajay Gogavale, the track is designed as a powerful tribute to the legacy of Hindavi Swarajya, blending scale with deep emotional resonance.
According to an IANS report, the anthem has been mounted on a massive scale, featuring an ensemble of 80 chorus singers that amplify its grandeur. With thundering beats, evocative lyrics, and a rising emotional arc, ‘Chhatrapati’ goes beyond spectacle to deliver a moving sonic experience that captures pride, courage, and the spirit of self-rule.
Choreographed by Remo D’Souza, the song translates its musical intensity into a visual spectacle, where every frame reflects the collective emotion of a people united in purpose. The composition doesn’t merely celebrate a historical figure but seeks to evoke the awakening of a nation and the birth of an identity rooted in honour and resilience.
Speaking about the track, Ajay–Atul shared that the intention was never just to create a “big” song but one that carries truth, reverence, and emotional depth. They noted that working on a subject of such legacy required a sense of responsibility, hoping the anthem resonates deeply with audiences beyond its scale and leaves a lasting impact.
Directed by Riteish Deshmukh, who also plays the titular role, ‘Raja Shivaji’ boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Boman Irani, and Genelia Deshmukh among others. The film is presented by Jio Studios and produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh under Mumbai Film Company.
Set for a worldwide theatrical release on May 1, 2026, in Marathi, Hindi, and Telugu, ‘Raja Shivaji’ aims to bring to the big screen a cinematic retelling that combines historical depth with visual spectacle, anchored by music that echoes the spirit of an era.
