Balaji Digital, the digital arm of Balaji Telefilms, has unveiled its upcoming series ‘Ishk Dum Aur Idli Rasam’, further expanding its slate of original digital content.
According to a press release, the show is being produced under the Balaji Studios banner and marks a collaborative milestone with actor Surbhi Chandna, who joins the project as a producer through her production house, Feel Good Studios. The partnership reflects the platform’s continued focus on working with talent-driven creative voices to build engaging, contemporary narratives.
The series stars Shiny Doshi in the lead role of Meera Nair and is set against the backdrop of a heritage South Indian restaurant. At its core, the story explores themes of family legacy, emotional inheritance and the balance between traditional values and modern ambition, all woven through the cultural and emotional significance of food.
Balaji Digital said the narrative uses cuisine as a lens to examine identity and memory, highlighting how relationships and aspirations evolve within a deeply rooted cultural setting. The project aligns with the company’s broader strategy to build a diverse content portfolio tailored for digital-first audiences.
Commenting on the announcement, Nitin Burman, Chief Revenue Officer at Balaji Telefilms, said the series marks the platform’s fifth YouTube Original under Balaji Studios. He added that the company remains focused on creating a future-ready content slate that blends strong storytelling with evolving audience preferences.
With ‘Ishk Dum Aur Idli Rasam’, Balaji Digital continues to strengthen its digital presence, bringing fresh, culturally rich narratives to viewers while deepening its engagement with younger, online audiences.
