Ankuur Rajesh Kapila has rejoined Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited’s OTT platform ZEE5 as National Sales Head, marking his return to the Zee network. He assumed the role in February 2026 and will be based in Mumbai.
Kapila announced the development through a LinkedIn post, where he shared that he was signing off from JioStar India Pvt. Ltd with “gratitude” and described his transition back to Zee as a “homecoming”. His appointment signals a renewed focus on strengthening sales strategy and partnerships for the streaming platform.
He joins ZEE5 after serving as Vice President – Sports Gamification (Jeeto Dhan Dhana Dhan) at JioStar, where he led the interactive sports engagement initiative on JioHotstar. During his three-year tenure, he scaled the Jeeto Dhan Dhana Dhan play-along platform across major properties, including the Indian Premier League and international cricket tournaments.
In his previous role, Kapila focused on monetisation and partnerships, developing branded play-along formats and performance-linked sponsorship models while introducing new advertiser categories. He also drove product innovations such as real-time predictions, trivia formats and gamified reward systems aimed at boosting daily active engagement across OTT sports properties. Internally, he led a cross-functional team spanning product, marketing, sales and partnerships, positioning gamification as a strategic growth lever for digital sports streaming.
Kapila’s return to Zee marks the continuation of a long-standing association with the network. Prior to his stint at JioStar, he spent over 14 years at Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, holding several leadership roles across sales, brand solutions and content. His earlier positions included Head – Brand Solutions (West & South) for Zee Network Integrated Platforms and Senior Vice President – Key Account Management for the Hindi GEC cluster.
He also served as Region Head – Brand Solutions for the Hindi Movie Cluster and Zee Cinema, where he handled strategic brand partnerships and revenue initiatives. In another key role as Head – Programming and Content Acquisition at Zee Studio, Kapila oversaw Hollywood and international content acquisition for Zee’s linear and digital platforms, while curating programming strategies to drive genre rankings and market share.
Earlier in his career at Zee, he worked as Group Head Sales for &pictures, &TV and Zee Cinema, contributing to the network’s advertising and revenue growth across entertainment channels. His return to ZEE5 is expected to strengthen the platform’s sales and partnership ecosystem as competition in India’s OTT space continues to intensify.
