Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama ‘Battle Of Galwan’ has been postponed and is now slated for a theatrical release on August 14, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend.
The film was earlier expected to arrive sooner but the makers have decided to push the release to align with the patriotic fervour around August 15.
According to a UNI report, the decision was taken keeping in mind both the film’s theme and the remaining production work. A source told Bollywood Hungama that the makers felt an Independence Day release would be more impactful, as national sentiment runs high during this period. The source added that ‘Battle Of Galwan’ would be an ideal watch at a time when audiences are more receptive to patriotic stories.
The delay is also linked to ongoing production requirements. Portions of the film are still pending, with reshoots extending beyond the original schedule. A fresh shooting schedule is set to begin on February 9 at the Golden Tobacco Factory in Mumbai and will continue for about a week. After this phase, a few additional days of filming will remain, with the project expected to wrap by the end of February.
Once the reshoots are completed, director Apoorva Lakhia will begin editing the newly filmed portions. The source further revealed that the film also needs to be screened for the Ministry of Defence, as per protocol, a process that could take additional time. These factors made it difficult for the team to meet the earlier April 17 release deadline.
Salman Khan, the source said, is keen that the film is handled with care and not rushed to meet a date. He has reportedly conveyed to the team that a patriotic project like ‘Battle Of Galwan’ deserves time and attention to ensure the final output is compelling, cinematic and emotionally strong.
With its new release date, ‘Battle Of Galwan’ will now face box-office competition from Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla. Despite the clash, expectations remain high from the Salman Khan starrer, especially with its Independence Day positioning and strong nationalistic theme.
