With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup set to grip cricket fans across the country, News18 India has introduced ‘Stump Mic’, a new cricket talk show that aims to bring a lighter, more candid take on the game.
The programme goes on air from February 7 and will run throughout the tournament, offering viewers unfiltered conversations and match-day perspectives beyond conventional studio analysis.
According to a press release issued by News18 India, ‘Stump Mic’ has been designed as a fan-first format that moves away from heavy statistics and rigid breakdowns.
Hosted by senior journalist Anand Narasimhan, the show focuses on free-flowing discussions, strong opinions, behind-the-scenes stories and moments that resonate with everyday cricket lovers.
The idea is to recreate the spontaneous chatter that often gets picked up on stump microphones during live matches, blending expert insight with humour and honest reactions.
The panel brings together a mix of experienced cricketers and familiar cricket voices from India and overseas. It includes former India batter and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, former India fast bowler S Sreesanth, Indian pacer Umesh Yadav, former England spinner Monty Panesar, and social media influencer Yuvraj Dua.
Adding to the energy of the show is on-ground reporting by Vimal Kumar, widely known as Vimalwa, along with News18 India’s correspondents, who will join live from stadiums to share match-day atmosphere, player updates and fan reactions.
Stump Mic will air in two daily editions on India matchdays, closely aligned with live action. The pre-match show, scheduled from 3.50 pm to 4.50 pm, sets the context ahead of the game, while the post-match edition from 11 pm to 12 am captures detailed analysis, reactions and standout performances from the day’s play.
Together, the two segments aim to offer viewers a complete match-day experience without the stiffness of traditional formats.
With its relaxed tone and sharp cricketing voices, ‘Stump Mic’ positions itself as a fresh addition to World Cup programming, appealing to both serious followers of the game and casual fans.
The show will be broadcast at 3.50 pm and 11 pm on India matchdays exclusively on News18 India.
