Producer Harman Baweja and filmmaker Arati Kadav are set to collaborate once again on a new project, marking their second association after the critically acclaimed drama ‘Mrs’. The announcement comes exactly a year after the release of ‘Mrs.’, a film that sparked conversations for its sensitive portrayal of domestic identity and gender dynamics.
As per a UNI report, the new project follows the strong creative synergy the duo shared on ‘Mrs’. The Sanya Malhotra-starrer earned wide recognition for its nuanced storytelling and was backed by Baweja Studios in association with Jio Studios.
According to Variety, ‘Mrs.’ was a reimagining of Jeo Baby’s Malayalam cult classic ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’, adapted to a North Indian milieu. The film wove in cultural traditions such as ‘Karwa Chauth’ while tracing the slow, often invisible erosion of a woman’s sense of self within marriage. Harman Baweja had also co-written the film along with Arati Kadav.
The film’s impact extended beyond domestic audiences, with ‘Mrs.’ receiving critical acclaim at several international film festivals, including Black Nights Tallinn Film Festival and IFFI Goa, where it picked up multiple awards and strong reviews.
Speaking about the renewed collaboration, Baweja told Variety that ‘Mrs.’ reaffirmed his belief that audiences are ready for bold, intimate and transformative cinema. He said working with Kadav was both creatively energising and challenging, and expressed excitement about pushing boundaries together once again on their upcoming project.
Echoing similar sentiments, Arati Kadav said she felt happy, safe and inspired working with Baweja and his team. She credited the collaborative environment at Baweja Studios, including creative producer Tasneem Lokhandwala and actor Sanya Malhotra, for making Mrs. a fulfilling experience, adding that continuing the partnership feels like coming home.
Meanwhile, Variety reports that Baweja Studios has an active slate lined up for 2026, with projects such as ‘Dil Ka Darwaza Kholo Na Darling’, ‘Captain India’, ‘Boy From Andaman’ and several other films currently under development, signalling a busy phase ahead for the production house.
