Palki Sharma has stepped down as Managing Editor of Firstpost, bringing to a close a significant chapter in the digital news platform’s editorial journey. During her tenure, Sharma played a pivotal role in shaping Firstpost’s editorial identity, most notably through the launch and success of its prime-time show ‘Vantage’, which earned recognition for presenting global developments through a distinctly Indian perspective.
Sharma’s contribution extended well beyond her on-screen presence. She was instrumental in building a strong editorial team and nurturing a culture focused on sharp analysis, credibility and consistency. Under her leadership, Firstpost strengthened its positioning in the competitive digital news space, with ‘Vantage’ emerging as a flagship property that resonated with a wide and engaged audience.
While Sharma has not formally announced her next professional move, sources familiar with the development indicate that she is stepping away to pursue entrepreneurial interests.
At the same time, Firstpost has announced the appointment of Binoy Prabhakar as its new Chief Content Officer. Prabhakar recently concluded his stint as Chief Content Officer at Hindustan Times and brings with him over 25 years of editorial experience across some of India’s most respected media organisations.
Over the course of his career, Prabhakar has held senior editorial roles at The Economic Times, The Indian Express, Hindustan Times, and digital platforms such as Moneycontrol and CNBCTV18.com. Known for building and scaling digital news operations, he is expected to play a key role in steering Firstpost’s content strategy and strengthening its digital newsroom.
The leadership transition marks an important phase for Firstpost as it looks to build on its existing editorial strengths while charting its next phase of growth in the evolving digital media landscape.
