The Pro Wrestling League (PWL) has announced Sony Sports Network as the official broadcast partner for its fifth season, marking the much-anticipated return of India’s premier professional wrestling competition in January 2026 after a seven-year hiatus.
The league is set to make a comeback with a refreshed vision, stronger athlete-first principles and a renewed focus on presenting elite wrestling talent to audiences in India and overseas.
As per an SPN press release, all matches of the 2026 season will be telecast live on Sony Sports Ten 4 and Sony Sports Ten 5. Fans will also be able to stream the action on Sony LIV, ensuring comprehensive coverage across television and digital platforms and allowing viewers to follow the league seamlessly across devices.
The upcoming season will feature six city-based franchise teams — Delhi Dangal Warriors, Tiigers of Mumbai Dangal, Haryana Thunders, Punjab Royals, Maharashtra Kesari and UP Dominators. The competition format has been designed to raise the profile of the sport while delivering high-intensity, closely contested bouts. The league will showcase a mix of leading Indian wrestlers and international stars, blending Olympic-style wrestling with a modern league presentation.
Ahead of the season, franchises picked a total of 63 Indian and foreign grapplers from a pool of more than 250 wrestlers representing 16 countries. The player auctions, held on Saturday, saw franchises collectively spend over Rs.11 crore, underlining the scale of the league’s return and the confidence of team owners in the revived format.
Commenting on the partnership, Akhil Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of Pro Wrestling League, said the association with Sony Sports Network was a significant step in bringing the league back to a national audience. He noted that the collaboration aligns with PWL’s objective of growing the sport’s appeal, celebrating its athletes and building a sustainable future for wrestling in India and beyond.
The broadcast partnership also reinforces Sony Sports Network’s strategy of expanding its sports portfolio beyond mainstream properties. With its production expertise and wide distribution reach, the network is expected to enhance the on-air presentation of PWL, offering viewers an engaging and immersive experience as the league makes its long-awaited return.
