YouTube has once again emerged as the most-watched streaming platform in the United States, outperforming Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ in overall television viewership.
According to the latest audience data released by ratings agency Nielsen, Google-owned YouTube accounted for nearly 13 per cent of total TV viewing time in November, significantly ahead of Netflix, which stood at around 8 per cent.
As per a Times of India (TOI) report, the figures underline a trend that has been building for several years, with YouTube consistently generating more TV viewing time in the US than any other streaming service. The data refers solely to YouTube’s core video platform and does not include YouTube TV, the company’s paid live television service that carries traditional cable channels.
Beyond conventional video consumption, YouTube’s growing influence is also evident in the podcasting space. Research firm Edison has found that roughly 75 per cent of all podcast listening happens between 6 am and 6 pm, and YouTube now leads the podcast market as well. The platform said viewers watched nearly 700 million hours of video podcasts on living-room devices in October, marking a 75 per cent jump from the same period last year. Edison’s data also places YouTube ahead of Spotify and Apple Podcasts in overall podcast listening.
