The hit ‘Money Heist spin-off Berlin’ is set to return with a fresh storyline and a striking new title, Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine.
Netflix has confirmed that the new season of Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato’s popular Spanish series will premiere on May 15, accompanied by first-look images showcasing the visual scale and intrigue of the upcoming heist.
According to a UNI report, the new chapter continues to expand the ‘Money Heist’ universe, this time shifting its backdrop to Seville. While Berlin and Damián bring the old gang back together under the guise of stealing the famed Lady with an Ermine, their real mission is far more personal. Their true targets are the Duke of Málaga and his wife — a couple attempting to blackmail Berlin. The confrontation triggers Berlin’s darkest impulses, setting the tone for a revenge-driven heist that blends strategy, emotion and escalating conflict.
‘Money Heist’ remains one of Netflix’s biggest international successes, and Berlin has built on that global momentum. Álex Pina and Martínez Lobato are also behind Netflix’s recent dark comedy Billionaires’ Bunker, which Pina describes as a mix of soap opera, black comedy, jail drama and thriller.
Pedro Alonso returns as Berlin, joined once again by Michelle Jenner, Tristán Ulloa, Begoña Vargas, Julio Peña Fernández, and Joel Sánchez. The new season also introduces Inma Cuesta as Candela, a fresh member of the gang who becomes central to Berlin’s emotional arc. José Luis García-Pérez and Marta Nieto feature as the Duke and Duchess of Málaga, adding further weight to the central conflict.
The eight-episode season has been written by Pina and Martínez Lobato, with contributions from David Barrocal, Lorena G. Maldonado, Itziar Sanjuán, Humberto Ortega and Luis Garrido Julve. Direction is shared by Albert Pintó, David Barrocal and José Manuel Cravioto.
Filming took place across several Spanish cities including Seville, Madrid, San Sebastián and Peñíscola, promising a visually rich continuation of the franchise’s signature high-stakes world-building.
