Aaj Tak, India’s leading Hindi news channel, opened its flagship thought-leadership event, Agenda Aaj Tak 2025, at the Taj Palace in the capital on December 10.
The two-day summit, known for shaping national discourse, brings together influential policymakers, cultural voices, and sports personalities for conversations that reflect the concerns and aspirations of a rapidly evolving India.
According to a press note, the annual platform continues to serve as a space where ideas, perspectives, and national priorities are debated with depth and seriousness.
In her inaugural address, India Today Group Vice Chairperson Kalli Purie spoke about the global resonance of Aaj Tak’s recent exclusive interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. She noted that the interview made headlines across international media, underscoring how Indian journalism, when driven by rigour and confidence, can shape global narratives. Purie said the Russian team had conducted months of background checks before selecting Aaj Tak for the interview, calling it a matter of immense pride not only for the organisation but for the country as well.
Reflecting on the editorial approach behind the high-profile conversation, Purie highlighted that the channel asked questions “not being done by the West,” breaking the long-held perception that Indian media does not engage actively with global geopolitical issues. She said the interview demonstrated the confidence and preparedness of Indian newsrooms to ask difficult questions on the world stage, shifting assumptions about India’s role in international journalism.
As Day 1 of the summit commenced, the energy at the venue reflected the significance of the event within the national media landscape. Agenda Aaj Tak has, over the years, become an influential platform where leaders, thinkers, and pathbreakers converge to discuss key issues shaping India’s future — from politics, economy and governance to culture, youth and technology. The 2025 edition continues this tradition, offering a space for candid conversations that mirror the complexities and contradictions of contemporary India.
With sessions featuring some of the country’s most recognisable voices, the two-day programme reaffirms Aaj Tak’s position as a driver of meaningful national dialogue and a benchmark in Hindi news broadcasting.
