Aamir Khan’s production house has announced a quirky new spy entertainer titled ‘Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos’, marking actor-comedian Vir Das’ directorial debut.
The film, described as a “hatke” mix of action, comedy and romance, is set to hit theatres on January 16, 2026.
The announcement was made through a humorous video featuring Aamir Khan and Vir Das, giving audiences a taste of the film’s offbeat flavour. The teaser was shared with the caption: “From ‘Kya BANAYA’ to ‘KYA BANAYA’. Get ready for a wild ride of comedy, action, romance, and some spy stuff as well.”
In the video, Aamir is seen mock-scolding Vir for making a film that seemingly defies the rules of an action thriller. “This is a film? You said it’s an action film, spy film, thriller. Where is the action?” he asks in mock irritation. Vir tries to defend himself by insisting the film does have action, only to be cut off by Aamir pointing out that the only action seems to be Vir getting beaten up throughout the film.
The banter continues with Aamir teasing Vir about the so-called romance track, questioning whether getting slapped by the heroine counts as love. He even jokes that he wanted an item number in the film but ended up with Vir Das as the “item girl.”
The exchange reaches a comic peak when Vir mentions that everyone has a flop, including Aamir’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, sparking a pretend fight between the two.
The mood shifts quickly once the film’s team walks in and starts praising the project, leading Aamir to instantly change his stance and proudly claim he had encouraged Vir to make a “great film.”
Besides Vir Das in the lead, the film also stars Mona Singh, reuniting with Aamir’s production banner after ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. The lighthearted announcement has already set the tone for what promises to be an unconventional and entertaining spy comedy.
‘Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos’ will arrive in cinemas on January 16, 2026.
