Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has announced that Tushar Shah, its Chief Marketing Officer and Business Head for Movies, Regional, FTA and Infotainment Channels, will step down from the organisation after a long and impactful tenure. His last working day will be March 31, 2026, and he will remain with the company until then to oversee a smooth transition.
According to an SPNI press release, Shah has spent a combined 19 years with the network, including his earlier stint between 2002 and 2005. Over his three-decade-long career across print, telecom and media, he has built a strong reputation for driving revenue, marketing and business strategy while shaping multiple high-value portfolios at SPNI.
During his time at the network, Shah played a pivotal role in steering key channels such as Sony MAX, MAX 1, MAX 2, Sony PAL, Sony WAH, Sony Marathi, Sony AATH, Sony PIX and Sony BBC Earth. One of his most notable achievements was leading the turnaround of Sony AATH, which has remained a consistently profitable regional channel for more than ten years. He also led the Hindi and English Movies, Regional, FTA and Infotainment clusters with a clear emphasis on brand-building, profitability and audience expansion.
Shah is also credited with helming SPNI’s full-scale network rebranding the first complete identity refresh since the channels were launched. The initiative marked a significant milestone in the company’s brand journey and showcased his deep understanding of audience behaviour, brand development and sharp execution across genres.
Speaking on Shah’s exit, Gaurav Banerjee, Managing Director & CEO of SPNI, said, “Tushar has been a valued part of SPNI for many years, contributing to some of our most important brand and business milestones. His leadership, clarity of thought and consumer-first approach have helped build a strong foundation across multiple portfolios. We are grateful for his long-standing service and wish him the very best for his next chapter.”
Reflecting on his journey, Shah said, “SPNI has been a defining part of my professional life, and I am deeply grateful for the trust, opportunities and relationships that have shaped my journey here. I have had the privilege of working with exceptional teams across the organisation and am proud of what we have built together. As I move on to explore new avenues, I carry with me many learnings and fond memories.”
SPNI is expected to announce its succession plan in due course.
