ZEE5 Global, the leading streaming destination for South Asian content worldwide, has announced the launch of its upcoming Tamil original ‘Regai’ (Fingerprint), a dark, seven-episode crime thriller set to premiere on November 28.
The series promises an unsettling journey into a world where every truth is layered and every clue only deepens the mystery.
While the show takes thematic inspiration from the universe of celebrated crime writer Rajesh Kumar, ‘Regai’ is an original creation written and directed by Dhinakaran M, who reimagines the crime-thriller format with heightened psychological tension and narrative unpredictability.
The story unfolds with a chilling premise: How do you solve a crime when the victims have already been declared dead? What begins as a simple pursuit by S.I. Vetri, played by Balahasan, and constable Santhiya, portrayed by Pavitra Janani, quickly descends into a disturbing investigation. An ice-cart vendor dies accidentally during a chase, and Vetri stumbles upon a severed hand buried within melting ice — a discovery that triggers a chain of revelations.
As Vetri digs deeper, he is drawn into a dark maze connected to covert medical trials and a sinister network operating in the shadows. Each step leads to new survivors, each more unpredictable and dangerous than the last, blurring the line between the one who pursues and the one being pursued. The narrative steadily builds an atmosphere of dread, where nothing is as it seems and every breakthrough edges closer to a deeper conspiracy.
Produced by S. Singaravelan under the S.S Group Production banner, Regai features a strong ensemble cast including Bala Hasan, Pavithra Janani, Pobalam Pragathesh, Vinothini Vaidyanathan, Sriram M, Anjali Rao and Indrajith E.
With its intense pace, layered story arc and psychological depth, ‘Regai’ marks another addition to ZEE5 Global’s growing slate of original Tamil content aimed at audiences seeking high-stakes, character-driven thrillers.
