Actor Shefali Shah yesterday said she was feeling tense as the third season of ‘Delhi Crime’, her International Emmy winning show, nears its release.
The actor returns in the central role of DIG Vartika Chaturvedi in the show’s new chapter in which her cop character investigates a nationwide human trafficking case.
“I started to feel the pressure yesterday. When we are doing the show, I don’t get into it thinking, ‘Oh God, this won the Emmy and I have to better it’. I just have to be true to Vartika. There is a need for every actor to prove that I am the best and I will do better but that’s not the thing I want to do.
“I just want to be as true to her as I can be. And now I am very tense. I am freaking out,” Shah said at the trailer launch event of the show in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, her co-star Huma Qureshi, who will be essaying the role of the villain in the third season, said she had to put her best foot forward to portray what she described as the “most disgusting” role of her career.
Qureshi, known for movies such as ‘Gangs of Wasseypur, ‘Badlapur’ and ‘Monica, O My Darling’, features as a ruthless trafficker named Meena aka Badi didi.
According to an ANI report, director and showrunner Tanuj Chopra, in a press note, shared insights into the creative vision for the new season.
“With Season 3, we wanted to tell a story that feels both urgent and deeply human. Each season stands on its own. Whether you’re a long-time fan or watching for the first time, this season will be equally compelling,” Chopra said.
He added that the stakes are higher than ever, pushing Vartika and her team to their limits as they navigate every twist and dead end in their relentless pursuit of justice.
Known for its realism and emotional depth, ‘Delhi Crime’ has continued to stand out for its grounded storytelling and strong performances. The upcoming season promises to widen its narrative lens, delving deeper into the moral and social complexities that define the city’s underbelly, while retaining its essence of empathy, truth, and courage.
