There are many ways to share one’s perspective on Threads, but it was noticed that people were expressing themselves with screenshots of longer content from books, articles, newsletters, podcast transcripts and more when 500 characters wasn’t enough.
To address this trend, Meta has rolled out a way to attach up to 10,000 characters of text to a Threads post. Any attached text can be read directly in Threads to help one convey more complex perspectives, draw audience in and promote one’s work, meta had said.
“If you’re sharing or previewing content from other platforms on Threads, you can include a link to the full content in the body of your main post,” it added.
This, according to Meta, would give people more room to express themselves and start conversations, apart from helping their community discover their work wherever it lives. For example, an author might attach text to his/her post to tease a portion of a forthcoming novel, while a journalist might promote the latest think piece.
“Text attachments are part of our ongoing efforts to improve the creator experience on Threads and help communities connect around shared interests, and we’ll continue gathering feedback on how to improve them,” Meta explained in a statement late last week.
Meanwhile, earlier in July, Meta had introduced a couple of newer features on Threads after almost two years since the X rival’s launch.
More than a third of daily Threads users with connections follow mostly different accounts on Threads than on Instagram, showing that Threads is establishing its own unique user base.
With an aim to do more to make Threads the best place for sharing fresh perspectives and open conversations, Meta had announced two important updates — the ability to send DMs directly in the app and the introduction of the Threads highlighter, a new visual element that emphasizes interesting perspectives and conversations.
