CNN-News18 is set to host the Mumbai edition of its flagship ‘Town Hall’ on August 13, 2025, bringing together political leaders, policymakers, and cultural voices to address the city’s most pressing issues ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
Themed ‘Ballot, BMC, and the Battle for Mumbai’, the event promises a deep dive into governance priorities, citizen expectations, and the evolving aspirations of Mumbaikars.
According to a press release, the Mumbai edition follows the success of the ‘Defence Edition’ earlier this year. With the city preparing for BMC polls after eight years, the discussions will capture the spirit of a metropolis at a pivotal moment of change. The forum will highlight how politics, governance, and culture intersect in Mumbai — including a special focus on its iconic film industry and the art of storytelling in modern cinema.
The line-up features Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in ‘Ballot’, ‘BMC’ & ‘The Battle for Mumbai’ and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in ‘The Undisputed ‘Sena’pati’. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray will speak on Pride & Progress: Is Mumbai’s Future Regional?, while ‘The Millennial Ministers’ session will bring together Aditi Tatkare, Minister for Women & Child Development; Nitesh Rane, Minister of Fisheries & Ports; and Yogesh Kadam, Minister of State for Home (Urban). Acclaimed filmmaker Mohit Suri will feature in Love, Loss and Legacy, reflecting on his latest work and the shifting landscape of Indian cinema.
Smriti Mehra, CEO – English & Business News, Network18, said the Town Hall aims to “spotlight local concerns and amplify meaningful conversations” while reaffirming CNN-News18’s position as India’s leading English news channel for over three years. Managing Editor Zakka Jacob added that with the upcoming civic polls, these dialogues are “more relevant than ever” and serve as a platform for “dialogue, accountability, and citizen-centric conversation.”
The CNN-News18 Town Hall Mumbai will be broadcast live on August 13 at 4 pm on the channel and streamed simultaneously on its YouTube channel, giving viewers across the country a chance to engage with the debates shaping Mumbai’s future.
