Prime Video, in association with Excel Entertainment, has unveiled the gripping trailer of its upcoming supernatural horror-investigation series ‘Andhera’, which will stream exclusively on the platform from August 14 in India and across more than 240 countries and territories.

The announcement came through a press release today, revealing that the eight-episode series is headlined by Priya Bapat, Karanvir Malhotra, Prajakta Koli, and Surveen Chawla, alongside Vatsal Sheth, Parvin Dabas, and Pranay Pachauri.

‘Andhera’ is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Kassim Jagmagia, Mohit Shah, and Karan Anshuman under the banner of Excel Entertainment, with Vishal Ramchandani as Associate Producer. It has been created by Gaurav Desai, written by Desai, Raaghav Dar, Chintan Sarda, and Karan Anshuman, and directed by Raaghav Dar.

Rooted in a space where logic collides with the unknown, ‘Andhera’ blends atmospheric supernatural horror with a gripping investigative drama. Set against the dazzling yet deceptive skyline of Mumbai, the story follows Inspector Kalpana Kadam (Priya Bapat) and troubled medical student Jay (Karanvir Malhotra) as they investigate the mysterious disappearance of a young woman. Their search uncovers a sinister force lurking in the shadows, pushing the boundaries of reality and plunging them into a world where nightmares bleed into waking life.

“With Andhera, we wanted to create something that would not just scare, but also provoke thought,” said director Raaghav Dar. “The idea was never to rely on conventional horror tropes, but to explore fear as something far more psychological—rooted in ambition, guilt, and buried secrets. At its core, Andhera is about the darkness we carry unknowingly, and through this series, we wanted to hold a mirror to that inner chaos while delivering a gripping ride.”

Producer Karan Anshuman described the series as “psychological, raw, and personal,” adding, “No cheap tricks, no lazy jump scares—just slow-burning dread that crawls under your skin. If you’re looking to confront darkness head-on, welcome home. August 14 – lights off, Andhera on.”

Actor Prajakta Koli said she was instantly intrigued by the world of ‘Andhera’. “It’s a psychological horror story, but at its core, it’s about the survival of the mind, of truth, and of identity. My character is impulsive, bold, and skeptical, but also deeply affected by what she can’t explain. Being part of a story that is eerie yet emotionally layered has been an unforgettable experience.”

The trailer, now streaming on YouTube here, offers a glimpse into the unsettling world of ‘Andhera’, promising an intense, immersive, and spine-chilling experience for viewers when it premieres on August 14.
