India Today Group has issued a strong clarification denying claims that Pakistan hacked its live television debate. A viral clip circulating on social media, which purports to show a broadcast being interrupted or taken over, has been labelled ‘fake’ by the network’s fact-checking team.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the official handle of India Today Fact Check posted, “Pakistan did NOT hack India Today TV during a live debate, the viral clip making the rounds on social media is FAKE.”
The clarification came amid a surge of misinformation after a doctored video surfaced online, misleading viewers into believing that a live telecast on India Today was breached by foreign elements. The fabricated footage appears to have been edited and overlaid with manipulated visuals and audio tactics commonly used to spread disinformation.
The network’s fact-checking arm urged viewers and social media users not to fall for such content and to verify the authenticity of sensational claims before sharing. The clip, despite being debunked, has already been widely circulated on WhatsApp, X, and Facebook, further underlining the rapid pace at which digital misinformation spreads.
India Today’s response is part of its broader effort to curb the spread of fake news and manipulated media under its #FactCheck initiative. The network continues to encourage audiences to rely on verified sources and avoid contributing to digital hoaxes that can damage reputations and mislead the public.
