Prime Video has announced June 4 as the worldwide premiere date for its Hindi Original investigative crime thriller ‘Stolen’. Backed by a powerhouse team of executive producers—Anurag Kashyap, Kiran Rao, Nikkhil Advani, and Vikramaditya Motwane—the film marks the directorial debut of Karan Tejpal and is produced by Gaurav Dhingra for Jungle Book Studio.
The announcement comes via an official press release from Prime Video India, which highlighted ‘Stolen’ as a gripping narrative driven by intense performances and bold storytelling. The screenplay is co-written by Karan Tejpal, Gaurav Dhingra, and Swapnil Salkar – Agadbumb. The story follows the nerve-racking journey of two urban brothers who witness a baby being kidnapped from a helpless mother at a railway station in rural India. As one brother, moved by conscience, pushes the other to intervene, the two become entangled in a dangerous and emotional investigation.
Headlined by Abhishek Banerjee, Harish Khanna, Mia Maelzer, Sahidur Rahaman, and Shubham Vardhan, ‘Stolen’ is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in India and across more than 240 countries and territories on June 4.
The film first made waves at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation. It went on to make a strong mark on the global festival circuit. At the Beijing International Film Festival, Stolen won accolades for Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Actress. In Japan, the Skip City International D-Cinema Festival honoured the film with Best Film and Best Director awards. Zurich Film Festival offered a Special Mention, while in India, Stolen was screened at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival and later at the 28th International Film Festival of Kerala.
“Stolen exemplifies Prime Video‘s commitment to championing bold, meaningful storytelling that resonates deeply with audiences,” said Manish Menghani, Director and Head – Content Licensing, Prime Video India. “This edge-of-the-seat thriller is more than entertainment—it holds a mirror to society, delving into powerful themes of justice, trauma, and human resilience.” He added that the film’s critical recognition and the collaboration with some of Indian cinema’s most respected voices underline Prime Video’s dedication to backing distinctive and compelling narratives.
Executive producer Anurag Kashyap shared his admiration for the film, saying, “Stolen is strong, unflinching, relentless and emotionally raw—exactly the kind of film that grabs you from the first frame and doesn’t let go. Karan Tejpal has made a fearless piece of cinema, and I’m proud to support it.”
Kiran Rao echoed this sentiment, saying, “The character of Jhumpa stayed with me long after I watched the film—her vulnerability and resilience are a reminder of the strength that lies in the most unexpected places.”
Nikkhil Advani praised the film’s emotional depth, noting, “While its narrative is tense and gripping, it’s ultimately anchored in deep emotional resonance.” Vikramaditya Motwane added, “The brilliance of Stolen lies in how it delivers suspense with soul—it’s fast-paced, yet never loses its emotional core.”
Producer and co-writer Gaurav Dhingra remarked, “Stolen is a taut, emotionally resonant thriller — a human story wrapped in urgency and suspense. Since its inception, Jungle Book Studio has always strived to create cinema that touches, moves & inspires. With Karan’s powerful debut and the stellar support from our executive producers and Prime Video, we are proud to bring this story to a global audience.”
