NDTV has rolled out its first dedicated defence podcast, CTRL + ALT DEFENCE, hosted by two of India’s most respected defence journalists — Vishnu Som and Shiv Aroor.
The weekly show aims to offer viewers a gripping deep-dive into India’s national security strategies, cutting-edge military technology, and battlefield narratives that often go beyond the headlines.
The podcast drops a fresh episode every Saturday at 6 pm and is available across major platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and on NDTV’s official website (ndtv.com/podcast).
The debut episode, which premiered on May 17, is titled ‘Drones’, ‘Airstrikes’, ‘Media Narratives: Weapons of Operation Sindoor’. It explores India’s robust military retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack and unpacks the layered use of modern weaponry — from unmanned aerial vehicles and precision airstrikes to the defensive systems currently deployed across India’s volatile borders. Not stopping at the battlefield, the episode also examines how media storytelling during times of crisis can shape public perception, morale, and even strategic messaging.
At its core, ‘CTRL + ALT DEFENCE’ is a high-impact collaboration between two journalists who bring decades of combat zone reportage, military expertise, and technical insight to every conversation. Vishnu Som, who has covered high-risk conflict regions including Siachen, Iraq, and Ukraine, is widely acknowledged for his deep understanding of satellite intelligence and modern military tech. Shiv Aroor, whose 21-year career includes frontline reporting from Sri Lanka to Libya, adds a sharp layer of ground-level experience and strategic commentary. Their combined presence gives the podcast both authority and relatability — a rare balance in defence journalism.
Each episode promises to decode complex defence topics into accessible conversations — covering everything from India’s missile capabilities and cyber warfare units to the emotional toll on soldiers and tactical geopolitical decisions. The show is not only informative for defence enthusiasts but also appeals to everyday listeners curious about how India safeguards its sovereignty in a constantly shifting global order.
As NDTV pivots into long-form audio and video storytelling, ‘CTRL + ALT DEFENCE’ signals a bold new chapter in defence reporting — rooted in credibility, experience, and the kind of storytelling that cuts through the noise to explain what really matters.
