The trailer of ‘KanKhajura’, a new psychological thriller series starring Mohit Raina and Sarah Jane Dias, has been officially unveiled, and it’s a spine-chilling ride into the shadows of the human mind. Promising an intense exploration of guilt, fractured memories, and buried secrets, the series is set to premiere on Sony LIV on May 30.
Directed by Chandan Arora and produced by Ajay Rai, ‘KanKhajura’ is the Indian adaptation of the acclaimed Israeli series Magpie. The trailer presents a disturbing yet riveting narrative — a world where silence conceals danger and long-suppressed truths claw their way to the surface. The emotional weight and psychological conflict are grounded in the story of two estranged brothers, played by Mohit Raina and Roshan Mathew, who must confront their haunted pasts.
The series, adapted with an Indian emotional palette, dives deep into themes of trauma and memory. It’s a dark psychological puzzle where what’s remembered may not always be true, and what’s forgotten could prove deadly. The tension between the two brothers forms the emotional core, driving the plot with simmering intensity.
Speaking about her role as Nisha, Sarah Jane Dias shared, “There’s something deeply unsettling about KanKhajura, not just the story, but what it forces you to confront—guilt, family, and memory. Nisha is a character who’s trying to hold it all together while everything inside her is falling apart. It wasn’t easy to play someone so nuanced and layered, but it was empowering.”
The series also stars Mahesh Shetty, Ninad Kamat, Trinetra Haldar, Heeba Shah, and Usha Nadkarni. As per the press announcement, ‘KanKhajura’ has been licensed from yes Studios, and is originally created by Adam Bizanski, Omri Shenhar, and Dana Eden, with production by Donna and Shula Productions.
With its eerie atmosphere, gripping character arcs, and a plot that promises to blur the lines between reality and delusion, ‘KanKhajura’ appears poised to become one of this year’s most unforgettable thrillers.
