Vodafone Idea (Vi) has officially launched its high-speed 5G services in the Delhi NCR region, marking a significant step in the telco’s ambitious rollout across the country. With this move, India’s capital joins the growing list of cities where Vi 5G is now live, following earlier launches in Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Patna. The company plans to cover all 17 priority telecom circles where it has acquired 5G spectrum by August this year.
According to a Vi press release, the introductory 5G offer for users includes unlimited data on plans starting from Rs.299. Vi subscribers using 5G-enabled devices can now access faster download speeds, uninterrupted video streaming, immersive gaming, and low-latency cloud applications—all part of the next-generation mobile experience that the telco aims to deliver across the country.
To support the rollout in Delhi NCR, Vi has partnered with Swedish telecom giant Ericsson to deploy its cutting-edge 5G infrastructure. The network, designed with enhanced energy efficiency and lighter hardware, is further supported by AI-powered Self-Organising Network (SON) technology. This ensures optimised network performance and allows for seamless transitions between 4G and 5G using a Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G architecture.
