Filmmaker Aanand L. Rai and director Hemant Dhome are joining hands once again for their upcoming Marathi film titled ‘Krantijyoti Vidyalay – Marathi Madhyam’. The duo, who previously collaborated on the successful Marathi film ‘Jhimma’, are set to explore the dynamics of regional language education through this new project.
As per an IANS report, the film is a heartfelt tribute to the significance and cultural identity of regional languages in India, with a specific focus on the Marathi medium of instruction. The story is expected to blend emotion, satire, and a strong social message – something both Rai and Dhome have become known for in their storytelling style.
Hemant Dhome, who has also co-written the film with Irawati Karnik, shared that the project is extremely close to his heart. “The concept of Krantijyoti Vidyalay – Marathi Madhyam is rooted in our collective identity and the respect for our mother tongue. It’s about celebrating the unsung heroes of our education system and challenging the idea that English-medium is the only pathway to success,” Dhome said.
Aanand L. Rai, known for championing strong content-driven cinema, said he was instantly moved by the subject. “It is not just a film; it’s a movement. Regional language cinema has always had depth, and this film takes a bold, emotional step in reaffirming that. Collaborating with Hemant again feels like homecoming,” he added.
The film will be backed by Aanand L. Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions in collaboration with Jio Studios, continuing his support for stories that resonate beyond the Hindi film belt. The team is currently in pre-production and is expected to go on floors soon.
With a unique title that hints at rebellion and a nod to education in the mother tongue, Krantijyoti Vidyalay – Marathi Madhyam is already stirring curiosity. Audiences and industry insiders alike are keen to see how the film will handle themes of language, pride, and progress in a rapidly globalising world.
