Jio has once again cemented its position as India’s fastest mobile internet provider, leading in key performance metrics during the second half of 2024, according to a recent report by Ookla, a global network intelligence and connectivity insights platform.
Ookla’s analysis reveals that Jio delivered a median 5G download speed of 258.54 Mbps and an upload speed of 14.54 Mbps, making it the fastest provider across all technologies combined and specifically for 5G. Alongside its speed leadership, Jio also emerged as the best mobile network, excelling in both fastest mobile network and best mobile coverage, ANI reported.
Meanwhile, Airtel led the rankings for best video streaming experiences and 5G gaming in India during the same period.
Among internet service providers (ISPs), Excitel took the top spot, clocking a median download speed of 117.21 Mbps and a median upload speed of 110.96 Mbps between July and December 2024.
City-wise, Jaipur recorded the fastest median mobile download speed in India at 181.68 Mbps, followed by Kolkata and Ahmedabad. On the other hand, Mumbai recorded the slowest median mobile download speed at 75.75 Mbps, followed by Pune and Chennai.
According to Ookla’s Speedtest Connectivity Report, Jio was the fastest mobile provider across nine major cities, reaffirming its dominance in India’s rapidly evolving mobile internet landscape.
