Olivier Richters, who portrays the menacing Paulie in ‘Reacher’ Season 3, has expressed deep gratitude toward series lead Alan Ritchson for playing a crucial role in securing him the part. The latest season of the Amazon Prime Video thriller has been winning audiences over with high-octane action, intense drama, and gripping twists, with the recently released Episode 6: ‘Smoke on the Water’ escalating the suspense further.
Richters, known for his towering frame and formidable on-screen presence, has been earning widespread praise for his portrayal of Paulie, one of Quinn’s most trusted enforcers. However, in a surprising revelation, the actor shared that he might not have landed the role if not for a personal recommendation from Alan Ritchson himself.
In a candid moment, Richters acknowledged Ritchson’s instrumental role in his casting, saying, “Alan played a significant role in this process; he mentioned that he found me, possibly on Reddit or from an Instagram video. He suggested to the casting team, ‘If you need a big guy, consider Olivier.’ I owe a lot to Alan for giving that tip, as it was a key reason I got the casting opportunity.”
Richters also recounted his first meeting with Ritchson, which took place during a stunt training session for an intense arm-wrestling scene. Despite the competitive nature of their characters, their off-screen chemistry was immediate.
“The first time we met was during stunt training for an arm wrestling scene. We were both checking each other out, sizing up, but we hit it off right away with a handshake and a nice conversation,” Richters shared.
He went on to praise Ritchson’s dedication and support, adding, “I was really impressed by Alan, given how he managed to keep such an impressive physique while balancing scripts, diet, and three kids. He was great at offering helpful tips for my performance, like how to react authentically when someone falls out of a truck. He didn’t have to do that, but it made my acting feel more realistic. I truly appreciated his professionalism and support on set.”
Reacher Season 3, based on the bestselling novels by Lee Child, continues to be a major success on Prime Video, with audiences eagerly anticipating each new episode. The series, helmed by Emmy-nominated Nick Santora (Prison Break, FUBAR), features a stellar cast including Maria Sten, Sonya Cassidy, Johnny Berchtold, Roberto Montesinos, Brian Tee, and Anthony Michael Hall.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and Paramount Television Studios, the series brings action-packed storytelling and intense crime drama to life. Directed by Sam Hill and Gary Fleder, Reacher Season 3 is currently streaming on Prime Video, with new episodes releasing every Thursday in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada dubs.
