In an innovative move to foster open discussions on intimacy and sexual wellness, condom maker Durex has launched its first-ever podcast in India, ‘The Durex Podcast’, hosted by actor Abhay Deol.
The initiative aims to create a safe space for honest and informed conversations about pleasure, relationships and breaking long-standing taboos surrounding intimacy, Durex said in a press release yesterday.
Despite shifting societal norms, discussions about intimacy in India remain largely unspoken. According to Durex’s Global Sex Survey 2024, 53 percent of Indians believe that sex is a private matter that should not be openly discussed. This hesitation often leads to misinformation, unrealistic expectations, and performance-related anxieties, resulting in unfulfilling experiences.
With this podcast, Durex is pushing boundaries yet again to normalize such conversations and empower individuals to embrace their intimate lives with confidence.
Themed around the idea of ‘Let’s End Good Sex’, the podcast challenges the notion that intimacy should be merely “good enough”. Instead, it aims to redefine and elevate discussions around sexual wellness by bringing together diverse voices for candid, thought-provoking conversations. With Abhay Deol at the helm, ‘The Durex Podcast’ ensures that these discussions are both engaging and insightful, helping listeners navigate relationships and intimacy with greater awareness.
The first episode, titled ‘Let’s End Good Sex for Married Couples’, features renowned comedian Vir Das and celebrated actress Kalki Koechlin.
On the podcast’s launch, Kanika Kalra, Regional Marketing Director, Health, Reckitt-South Asia, said, “When it comes to intimacy, there’s a lot of misinformation—whispers, myths, and half-truths that shape perceptions. Young consumers today crave unfiltered, real conversations about relationships, pleasure, and intimacy without stigma. That’s what led to the creation of The Durex Podcast—to break the silence and normalize these crucial discussions.”
