The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), representing key telecom players such as Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, has expressed concerns over the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (Trai) newly proposed quality of service (QoS) norms, The Economic Times reported.

The guidelines, which mandate monthly and site-to-cell level reporting, have been termed burdensome by the industry body, especially in light of persistent challenges such as right of way (RoW) issues, spectrum interference, and infrastructure constraints that hinder timely network rollouts.

Despite meeting stringent QoS benchmarks, the COAI highlighted that the Telecommunications Act 2023, which introduced critical RoW amendments to harmonize state laws, requires urgent implementation to facilitate 5G network expansion.
