Prime Video has announced the elevation of Padma Kasturirangan to Head of South, India Originals. In her new role, Kasturirangan will oversee the growth and development of the platform’s Originals content in the Tamil and Telugu markets. This marks a significant expansion of her responsibilities from her prior position as Head of Telugu Originals, India Originals.
Sharing her excitement about the promotion, Kasturirangan took to LinkedIn: “I am excited to share that I am stepping into the role of Head of South, India Originals, Prime Video.
“I joined Prime Video two years ago, and since then I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with some of the best creators to build an exciting Telugu slate. With a super thrilling line-up planned for the near future, I look forward to scaling up our Originals program in Tamil and Telugu, bringing bar-raising stories to engage and delight our audiences, in this expanded role.”
She further expressed her gratitude towards the Prime Video leadership team, stating: “Nurturing new markets and building a diverse, wholesome content slate has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my journey at Prime Video. I am deeply thankful to Nikhil Madhok, Gaurav Gandhi, and James Farrell for entrusting me with this opportunity.”
Before joining Prime Video, Kasturirangan served as Vice President for Telugu Original Content at ZEE5, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the platform’s regional slate. Her professional journey began in 2006 as an Assistant Manager at Ricki’s, and she has since held roles in prestigious organizations, including Lotus Exim International Inc, Annapurna International School of Film and Media, and Tamada Media.
In her expanded role, Kasturirangan is committed to fostering the growth of regional content, particularly in the South Indian markets. Her efforts aim to bring compelling stories and memorable characters to audiences, further solidifying Prime Video’s position as a leading platform for diverse and engaging original content.
