The much-anticipated trailer for ‘MATKA’, a period crime-action thriller starring Varun Tej, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Nora Fatehi, has been unveiled, building massive excitement for its release.
Set against the backdrop of the notorious Matka gambling empire, the film delves into the turbulent world of the Matka King, whose influence shook the socio-economic landscape in the 1960s and 70s.
Directed by Karuna Kumar, ‘MATKA’ traces the rise of Vasu (Varun Tej), a charismatic anti-hero who ascends from humble beginnings to become a gambling magnate between 1958 and 1982. As Vasu’s empire grows, he becomes locked in a fierce battle with the underworld mafia and the Indian government, pushing the limits of power, ambition, and morality.
The trailer promises a gripping cinematic experience with intense drama and unforgettable lines, such as, “Angutha leke chhod dun main koi Dronacharya nahi – Vasu hun Matka King,” and “Tum jaise achche logon ki wajah se barish ho rahi hai – fasal ugg rahi hai, aur mere jaise logon ki wajah se dus logon ka paet bhar raha hai – nature balance.”
Varun Tej’s electrifying portrayal of the ruthless Vasu, paired with Meenakshi Chaudhary and Nora Fatehi‘s compelling performances, adds to the film’s allure. The powerful dialogues and gripping visuals further enhance the narrative, which revolves around the complex world of crime and power.
‘MATKA’ is slated for release on November 14, 2024, in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, ensuring it reaches audiences across India. With a screenplay and dialogues by Karuna Kumar, the film also features music by G. V. Prakash Kumar.
The Hindi version of ‘MATKA’ is being distributed by Wide Angle Media under the management of Aneesh Dev, with confidence in the film’s pan-India appeal. The movie is produced by Vijender Reddy Teegala and Rajani Talluri, presented by WAMINDIA, and distributed by JVEL for the Hindi theatrical release.
With its raw portrayal of ambition and power, ‘MATKA’ is shaping up to be one of the most exciting releases of the year.
