Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal recently appeared on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ on Netflix, joined by his wife, Mexican model Grecia Munoz, introduced as Gia Goyal.
The episode also featured Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy and his wife, author and philanthropist Sudha Murty. In a teaser, Goyal entertained the audience with anecdotes of a day he and Munoz spent as Zomato delivery agents, with Munoz surprising customers in a Zomato uniform.
The couple’s experience as delivery agents recently made headlines, especially after an incident at Ambience Mall in Gurgaon where Goyal, in delivery attire, was directed to use a side staircase, a common restriction faced by delivery personnel. This incident sparked discussions on fair access for delivery workers, leading Ambience Mall to establish a designated pickup point for food deliveries.
The episode had its share of laughs, particularly when comedian Krushna Abhishek, impersonating Donald Trump, poked fun at Zomato’s notorious delivery delays during heavy rains. NR Narayana Murthy, meanwhile, shared personal moments from his relationship with Sudha Murty, adding a warm touch to the episode.
Goyal’s debut comes shortly after he announced his departure from Shark Tank India, where he was a popular judge. He revealed that his exit was due to competitive concerns, as Swiggy has taken on sponsorship for the show’s fourth season.
Interestingly, this episode aired on the same day Swiggy launched its IPO, aiming to raise ₹11,327.43 crore. The IPO consists of new shares worth ₹4,499 crore and a sale of 17.51 crore shares valued at ₹6,828.43 crore, priced between ₹371 and ₹390 per share, and will be open until November 8 with a minimum lot size of 38 shares.
