Lionsgate has officially rescheduled the release of its eagerly awaited biographical film ‘Michael’, centered on the life of pop icon Michael Jackson. Originally slated for April 18, 2025, the release has been moved to October 3, 2025.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael stars Jaafar Jackson, the pop legend’s nephew, portraying his uncle with a striking resemblance that has garnered considerable attention, a PTI report stated.

The film, written by John Logan, dives into Jackson’s public persona and private life, aiming to offer a nuanced portrayal of the man behind the music. The ensemble cast includes Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo.

Fuqua, speaking at San Diego Comic-Con in July, highlighted his connection to Jackson’s music, expressing enthusiasm for bringing the singer’s complex story to life. “Michael was a big part of my life growing up, a big influence on my career,” Fuqua said, “but he was a human being, and we’re exploring that.”

The delay grants Fuqua and his team additional time for fine-tuning, as they aim to create an in-depth cinematic experience.  Michael will feature 30 of Jackson’s most iconic songs, with producer Graham King noting the extended runtime will capture the full scope of Jackson’s life, artistry, and legacy.
