CNBC-TV18, in partnership with HSBC India, celebrated the exceptional achievements of India’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) at the ‘HSBC presents CNBC-TV18 SME Champion Awards’ held at the Taj Mahal, Man Singh in New Delhi. The awards ceremony, marking the end of a six-month initiative, featured a performance by legendary singer Usha Uthup.
The event was attended by the Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, who highlighted the pivotal role of MSMEs in India’s economy. He emphasized the importance of reducing imports and increasing exports through new technologies.
According to a press release, Shereen Bhan, Managing Editor of CNBC-TV18, delivered the welcome address, celebrating the SME sector’s contribution to India’s GDP, manufacturing, and exports. She noted the digital transformation within MSMEs, with 72 percent of payments now online and 43 percent engaged in e-commerce.
Thirteen organizations and two entrepreneurs were recognized across seven categories, including Manufacturing SME of The Year and Excellence In Sustainability Practices. Hitendra Dave, CEO of HSBC India, underscored the importance of supporting entrepreneurship and the impact of these awards on inspiring future generations.
The event included insightful discussions on the impact of PLI Schemes and the importance of enhancing credit availability within the financial system. Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, DPIIT, and S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, shared significant achievements and opportunities within their sectors.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt performance by Usha Uthup, dedicated to Kargil Diwas.
