Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television have secured the rights to Matthew Blake’s debut crime thriller novel, ‘Anna O,’ with reports indicating that Netflix is in discussions to develop the series adaptation.
According to The Deadline, the project will see Blake serving as an executive producer alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Shechter, and Leigh Redman from Berlanti Productions. ‘Anna O’ centers around the investigation led by Dr. Benedict Picture, an expert in sleep-related homicide, into the case of Anna O, who remains in a comatose state after being accused of murdering two individuals four years prior.
This venture marks another significant collaboration for Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television following the success of ‘You,’ which is gearing up for its fifth and final season. Additionally, Berlanti Productions is currently working on the supernatural series “Dead Boy Detectives” for Netflix.
‘Anna O,’ published by Harper Collins US/Harper Canada on January 2, 2024, received widespread acclaim upon its release. Notably, Matthew Blake, the author, transitioned to full-time writing after previously being involved in politics.
The potential adaptation of ‘Anna O’ into a series underscores Netflix’s continued investment in captivating storytelling, promising viewers yet another compelling addition to its lineup of original content.
