Netflix gears up to broaden the eerie universe of ‘Wednesday’ with talks of a spin-off series centered on Fred Armisen’s portrayal of Uncle Fester.
As per PTI, discussions about this offshoot are underway concurrently with the preparations for the second season of ‘Wednesday,’ a reimagining of ‘The Addams Family’ headlined by Jenna Ortega.
Armisen, known for his guest appearance in a standout episode of ‘Wednesday’ season one as Uncle Fester, sibling to Luis Guzman’s Gomez Addams, showcased Fester’s electrifying ability to revive the iconic character, Thing.
‘Wednesday’ has surged as Netflix‘s most-watched English-language series, amassing an impressive 252.1 million views. The show, a coming-of-age comedy created by Al Gough and Miles Millar and directed by Tim Burton, has captured audiences’ attention.
The ensemble cast of season one featured Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Naomi J Ogawa, and a stellar recurring appearance by Catherine Zeta-Jones as Wednesday’s mother, Morticia.
The eagerly anticipated second season of ‘Wednesday’ is set to be filmed in Ireland, with production slated to commence in late April. The extension of the series with a spin-off centered on Uncle Fester promises to further enthrall audiences, expanding the darkly comedic world of the Addams Family for dedicated fans and newcomers alike.
