Major League Baseball (MLB) and Disney Star have joined forces with IMG and Amped Pictures to present ‘Indian Baseball Dreams,’ a captivating four-part docuseries that chronicles the incredible journey of Arjun Nimmala.
Arjun made history when he was drafted in the first round of the MLB amateur draft by the Toronto Blue Jays in July, becoming the first-ever first-generation Indian American to achieve such a high draft position across any of the four major U.S. professional sports.
This docuseries invites viewers to accompany Arjun Nimmala on his remarkable journey as he delves into his roots in his parents’ hometown of Vijayawada, located in Andhra Pradesh.
Along the way, he immerses himself in India’s rich sporting culture, even engaging in a friendly cricket match with Indian cricket star Ajinkya Rahane, the sport Arjun grew up practicing. ‘Indian Baseball Dreams’ also highlights the stories of India’s budding baseball talents who share their aspirations.
The eagerly anticipated docuseries premiered on Star Sports Select 1 & Star Sports Select 2 on October 18, 2023, with the final episode scheduled to air on October 21, 2023. Repeat telecasts will continue until October 26, 2023. Additionally, ‘Indian Baseball Dreams’ is set to reach a nationwide audience when it launches on Disney+ Hotstar in November.
This docuseries marks an expansion of the partnership between MLB and Disney Star. Star Sports, which has been broadcasting the World Series since 2020, is making history by airing additional rounds of the Major League Baseball Postseason live throughout October and November on Star Sports Select 1 and 2. These telecasts are specially produced for the Indian market and feature MLB’s top teams as they pursue the World Series title.
