The teaser for the much-anticipated biopic ‘Sam Bahadur‘, featuring Vicky Kaushal as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, was unveiled yesterday, and it has certainly lived up to the hype. The ‘Sardar Udham’ star embodies the look and persona of India’s legendary war hero with remarkable precision.
The teaser showcases high production quality and primarily focuses on Sam Manekshaw’s days as a General in the Indian Army before his rise to the rank of Field Marshal.
It features poignant moments of the Indian Army’s battles against the Pakistani Army during various conflicts from 1947 to 1971. Additionally, glimpses of Manekshaw’s service as a soldier in the British Indian Army during World War II are presented.
The trailer includes powerful dialogues, one of which underscores a soldier’s unwavering loyalty to the nation and uniform, emphasizing the paramount importance of upholding the honor of the uniform, even at the cost of one’s life.
It also includes a significant exchange between Manekshaw and Prime Minister Indira Gandhi regarding his role during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, known as the Bangladesh Liberation War. When asked to lead the Indian Army, he firmly states that soldiers are trained for battle, and politicians should handle politics.
A memorable moment in the teaser is when the Field Marshal responds to the notion that a soldier must sacrifice their life for the country, countering with, “A soldier’s job is to kill the enemy to achieve victory.”
With outstanding production values, commendable set design, VFX, and a commitment to historical authenticity, the ‘Sam Bahadur’ teaser exceeds expectations. Starring Vicky Kaushal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles, the movie is directed by Meghna Gulzar and is set to hit theaters on December 1, 2023.
