After months of speculation, the Chennai-based banner made the official announcement on social media yesterday that Kanagaraj will direct Rajinikanth in his 171st film.
Kanagaraj will write and direct the currently untitled film. Anirudh Ravichander, who is riding high on the success of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’, will compose music for the upcoming film, which will feature stunts by Anbariv, a PTI report said.

”Excited to be joining hands with Thalaivar @rajinikanth Sir for #Thalaivar171 with @sunpictures. An @anirudhofficial Musical. An @anbariv stunt,” the director wrote on the microblogging site, formerly called Twitter. Rajinikanth was last seen in ‘Jailer’, which is currently streaming on Prime Video.
