The makers of Meghna Gulzar’s next directorial, ‘Sam Bahadur,’ announced on Thursday that it will be released in theatres on December 1, 2023.
RSVP Movies is producing the film, which stars Vicky Kaushal as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
“365 days to go… #SamBahadur in cinemas 1.12.2023,” the production house captioned the post on its official Twitter page.
Vicky appears in the announcement video as Manekshaw, walking with his back to the camera as his troops make way for him.
The film ‘Sam Bahadur’ is based on the life of Manekshaw, one of India’s greatest war heroes.
The film, which is Meghna and Vicky’s second collaboration after 2018’s ‘Raazi,’ went into production in August.
Sanya Malhotra plays Manekshaw’s wife Silloo, and Fatima Sana Shaikh portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The script for ‘Sam Bahadur’ was written by Bhavani Iyer, Meghna’s father Gulzar, and Shantanu Srivastava.
Gulzar is also a lyricist on the film, which features music by the popular trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
Vicky will next be seen in ‘Govinda Naam Mera’, scheduled to premiere on December 16 on Disney+ Hotstar.
