India’s blockchain-based online video streaming app Mzaalo on Friday announced a strategic partnership with Jio to bring digital entertainment to rural India’s neglected audiences.
Mzaalo’s premium content inventory and rewards environment will be available on Jio’s low-cost phones, making it free to millions of rural Indians, the majority of whom are new to the internet.
150 million Jio phone users will be able to access the Mzaalo app’s premium library of 12,000+ titles, which includes the greatest of Bollywood and regional cinema, as well as original series and music videos, as well as receive rewards from 600+ brand partners, the company said in a statement.
Mzaalo has also been selected to participate in the Jio Developers Build for Bharat Growth Pad Program in addition to this relationship.
Mzaalo and its community will benefit from specific program benefits as members, including the first market access program and year-round Jio technical assistance.
Mzaalo provides users with free access to a variety of content, including movies, originals, live TV, music, and more.
Commenting on the partnership, Vikram Tanna, COO of Mzaalo said, “As India’s internet penetration develops, there is a growing need for high-quality online video streaming material. They’re ecstatic to work with Jio to bring their premium content and rewards ecosystem to 150 million+ JioPhone customers in Hindi and nine other Indian languages.”
Through their partnership with Jio, they will be able to expand their digital footprint and democratize digital entertainment across India’s hinterlands.
The Indian hinterland, or the country’s distant areas, is home to approximately 900 million people, or about 65 percent of the country’s population. Mobile services have reached this population, but they are not as widely used as they are in metropolitan areas.
Mzaalo is available for download on JioStore, the app store for JioPhone devices.
