Delhi Police have arrested an individual allegedly involved in distributing Maya IPTV, an unauthorised IPTV service used to illegally distribute copyrighted television channels and video-on-demand content belonging to JioStar and other content owners.
According to a statement issued by JioStar today, the arrest followed a complaint and evidence submitted by the company. An FIR was registered at the Delhi Police Crime Branch on May 29, 2026, under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Copyright Act, 1957, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. The FIR relates to the alleged unauthorised streaming and commercial distribution of copyrighted content through the Maya TV application.
Following the investigation, Delhi Police conducted raids on November 4, 2026, at two locations in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, and Rajouri Garden, Delhi. During the operation, police arrested the accused, who was allegedly distributing Maya IPTV subscriptions to users as a reseller. Authorities also seized a mobile phone allegedly used to operate the application and distribute subscriptions.
The investigation indicated that the accused had allegedly been involved in these activities for around two years. He was operating Maya IPTV along with two other applications through a subscription-based model and earning commissions from the distribution.
According to the FIR, Maya TV was distributed through an APK application and provided access to approximately 4,450 television channels, including channels carrying live sports content, without authorisation.
Following the police action, the Maya IPTV application is currently non-operational. The accused remains under arrest as police continue investigating the wider distribution network and identifying other individuals potentially involved.
JioStar said the action is part of its continued efforts to protect its intellectual property and premium content through anti-piracy initiatives and cooperation with law enforcement agencies
