Actor Shraddha Kapoor, who stars as a renowned Marathi tamasha and lavani performer in Laxman Utekar’s ‘Eetha’, yesterday said she is always in search of good stories and that’s why she sometimes does one film in two years.
The star said ‘Eetha’ also helped her connect with her Maharashtrian roots from her mother’s side, a PTI report from Mumbai stated yesterday.
Kapoor is the daughter of Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure. Her aunts are actors Padmini and Tejaswini Kolhapure.
With the film, Kapoor reunites with producer Dinesh Vijan after the mega success of horror-comedy films ‘Stree’ and ‘Stree 2’.
While brushing aside categorisation like women-oriented films and men-dominated films, she also said that the industry should come together to make films with good stories and that a film’s success is incidental.
Meanwhile, according to an ANI report, ‘Eetha’ has been released, giving audiences a glimpse into the extraordinary life of legendary lavani performer Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar.
The film explores her journey, struggles and achievements in Maharashtra’s traditional folk art. Through this film, audiences will get to see the story of a woman who made a special place for herself in the world of lavani and tamasha performances.
Shraddha plays the role of Vithabai Narayangaonkar in the biographical drama. Directed by Utekar, ‘Eetha’ also features Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Nana Patekar and Siddharth Jadhav in important roles.
‘Eetha’ is backed by Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations, with music composed by Ajay-Atul. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on December 4
