Netflix has celebrated the fourth season of its political thriller series ‘The Diplomat’ by hosting special screenings in four cities: London, Canberra, Brussels and Washington DC.
According to an official announcement by Netflix yesterday, the screenings were organised in partnership with POLITICO. The events brought together ministers, government advisers, communication heads, spokespersons and other policymakers.
The celebrations began in London on October 13, with 40 guests attending a screening and reception at the Soho Hotel. The following evening, 150 guests gathered at Palace Electric Cinemas in Canberra, Australia. A screening and reception were also held at Netflix’s office in Brussels.
On October 15, the celebrations moved to Washington DC, where ‘The Diplomat’ stars Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell joined the show’s creator and showrunner, Debora Cahn, for a screening and discussion at the US Navy Memorial. The event was attended by 200 guests and moderated by POLITICO’s Dasha Burns.
Speaking about the series, Debora Cahn said she wanted to do justice to the foreign service through the show. Keri Russell described the series as a ‘love letter to the foreign service’.
