Prime Video has unveiled the trailer for ‘Chaar Yaar’, an upcoming Hindi crime drama set in early 2000s Mumbai that follows four friends whose ambitions lead them into a dangerous world of gangsters, car thefts and high-stakes heists.

Starring Purav Jha, Naman Jain, Saqib Ayub and Prayrak Mehta in the lead roles, the eight-episode series combines action, friendship and humour against the backdrop of Mumbai’s criminal underworld. The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on October 23, 2026, in India and across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The trailer introduces Jay, Tony, Saahil and Sameer, four friends from middle-class backgrounds who dream of making something of their lives. However, a desperate decision pushes them into a criminal world far removed from their ordinary lives. Soon, they find themselves caught between Mumbai’s powerful gangsters and Inspector Sumati Bhalerao, who is pursuing them.

As their plans spiral out of control, the friends face dangerous encounters, high-speed car chases and increasingly risky heists. With the police closing in and underworld figures threatening their survival, the four must find a way to outsmart their pursuers while holding on to the friendship that brought them together.

The ensemble cast also includes Sai Tamhankar, Sikandar Kher, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Tailang, Chunky Panday and Bhagavathi Perumal in pivotal roles.

Directed by Vinay Waikul and written by Sambit Mishra and Saurabh Sawant, ‘Chaar Yaar’ is produced by Pranati Nagarsheth, Niraj Nagarsheth and P.S. Shyam under Pink Window Production Pvt. Ltd. The series was developed by BBC Studios India and created by Waikul, S. Hussain Zaidi, Mishra and Sawant.

Speaking about the series, creator and director Vinay Waikul said the story explores the unpredictability of life and how four friends find themselves in circumstances far beyond their expectations.

“With Chaar Yaar, we wanted to tell a story about the uncertainty of life and the thrill of exploring it. Life happens to four friends, and before they know it, they are in a situation that’s way bigger than anyone ever imagined. The only thing that can get them out of it is the bond of friendship,” Waikul said.

He added that the contrasting personalities of the four protagonists create a whirlwind of situations, while praising the ensemble cast for bringing their characters to life.

Prayrak Mehta, who plays Jay, described his character as a thoughtful planner whose intelligence can prove to be both a strength and a weakness.

“He’s a man of few words, someone who thinks before he speaks and always has a plan. He’s the person his friends turn to when things go wrong,” Mehta said.

He added that Jay undergoes a significant transformation during the series, which made the role particularly challenging. For Mehta, the story’s appeal lies in its focus on four friends trying to build better lives despite the chaos surrounding them.

Saqib Ayub, who plays Tony, said the series offered a different kind of action experience, with large-scale sequences, car chases and fast-paced stunts. Having previously appeared in projects including ‘Farzi’, ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ and ‘Undekhi’, Ayub said playing Tony also gave him the opportunity to portray an ordinary Bombay boy after several flamboyant roles.

Purav Jha, who plays Saahil, called the project a significant milestone in his acting career. Following years of creating content, he said ‘Chaar Yaar’ marked an important step, with the role pushing him into a new world of action training and performance.

Naman Jain, who plays Sameer, highlighted the humour his character brings to the story, even as events take a dangerous turn. He said Sameer has several layers that emerge as the narrative progresses and praised the natural camaraderie that developed among the four lead actors during filming.

With its mix of crime, action, humour and friendship, ‘Chaar Yaar’ takes viewers into the underbelly of early 2000s Mumbai, where the four protagonists must confront the consequences of their choices and discover whether their bond can survive the risks they have taken.

The series will stream exclusively on Prime Video from October 23, 2026.
