Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action film based on the popular video game ‘Cyberpunk 2077’. The project involves producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and the game’s developer, CD Projekt Red.

According to a PTI dispatch from Los Angeles, which quoted a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be based on the world of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’.

Details about the cast, director, storyline and release date have not been announced.

Released in 2020, ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ is a science-fiction role-playing video game set in Night City, a futuristic city in California.

The game follows V, a mercenary who becomes connected to the digital consciousness of Johnny Silverhand, a rock star played by Keanu Reeves.

The game takes players into a futuristic world dominated by powerful corporations, advanced technology and conflicts over control and identity.

‘Cyberpunk 2077’ has gained popularity among gamers worldwide. Its success has also led to the release of the expansion ‘Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty’.

Further details about the live-action film, including its cast and release timeline, are yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, a Reuters report quoted Michal Nowakowski, joint-CEO of CD Projekt RED, as saying in a post on social media platform X late on Thursday, “We’re excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise,”

‘Cyberpunk 2077’ had sold 40 million copies as of July 3, with its ‘Phantom Liberty’ expansion selling 15 million, the Reuters report added.
